Dutch Shuffleboard: Ever present in pubs and markets across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, Dutch Shuffleboard, also called Sjoelen (pronounced shoe-len) is believed to have been originally designed in the late 1800s. It is so popular that there are World Championships held every two years across Europe. Our version of Dutch Shuffleboard is made with local cherry wood, features brass inlay, is finished with a blend of natural oils, and generously waxed so the pucks glide effortlessly down the board. It’s become a fast favorite in our lineup!

With options suited for both indoor and outdoor venues, our game rentals are perfect for keeping your guests engaged and entertained throughout your event, no matter the venue. Considering a few key factors can help simplify the decision-making process and guarantee the best games for your event!
First, think about the theme and vibe of your event. Are you hosting a laid-back corporate retreat or a formal black-tie wedding? Your choice of games should complement the overall atmosphere and help set the right tone. Giant Jenga and DiscGo might be perfect for the retreat, whereas Giant Chess would be more appropriate for the wedding. (But don’t look past Cornhole—tossing bags in a tux is a special kind of fun!)
Next, consider your guest list. Are you mostly hosting children, adults, or a mix of both? Opt for family-friendly games like Giant Tic Tac Toe, Connect Four and Giant Checkers. For a more adult-focused event, Cornhole and our signature table games might be a better fit. Are your guests into high-energy activities or more laid-back fun? Do you have some introverted guests who might enjoy a solo game to unwind? Then we recommend Tower of Hanoi! This single-player math puzzle is familiar to many as it’s often taught in school, and is even part of the interview process for some developers! We include 2 ottomans with this game to encourage a second person to join in on the fun.

Some games have a larger footprint than others and are better suited to outdoor play like Ladder Ball, Cornhole, Bocce Ball and Croquet, so make sure you have the space to accommodate them. And don’t forget to check any venue restrictions! For instance, some venues are very particular about their lawns and do not allow staking in the ground for Croquet.

Plan ahead: Be sure to reserve your lawn games early, especially during busy event seasons when popular games can book up quickly! Choose your game rental package and fill out our reservation form, and we will follow up with our availability and an itemized quote.
Designate an area for the games: We find that guests tend to gather around the bar at events, so it’s great to designate an area nearby for the games. You can also sprinkle them throughout your cocktail hour space. The games are a great way to encourage your guests to mix and mingle, and go hand-in-hand cocktails and conversation!
Gather your event logistics: Provide us with a description, photos and/or video of the gaming location, where we can bring our van for load-in, and any special requirements. Venue maps are always very helpful to have on hand. We will also need our day-of contact information for the person we should reach out to with any questions or concerns during the event. These simple steps will ensure a smooth delivery and setup!
Consider lighting: If your event runs into the evening, ensure there’s sufficient lighting for guests to continue playing into the evening. (Our Cornhole boards do come with lights so those can still be enjoyed further away from your main light source.)
Think of a back-up rain plan: It’s important to have a backup rain plan, such as a contingency tent or an indoor area for the games, in case of inclement weather. Many of our games work very well indoors and have tidy footprints, whereas others, like Croquet and Ladder Ball, can only be played outdoors on grass. We will work with you and your event planner to come up with a plan in case the weather turns so your guests can still enjoy the fun!
