A Playful Summer Wedding in the City
From the outset, Sam and Justin made it clear they weren't interested in tradition for tradition's sake. Married at The Foundry in New York City, their day unfolded less like a conventional wedding and more like a love letter to their shared sense of humor — one built around bubble machines, silly hats, our life-sized wooden games, and a first dance choreographed to “Rubber Ducky” from Sesame Street.
The ceremony itself was brief and intimate, held outdoors in the venue's courtyard against a whimsical floral backdrop before guests moved into an entirely non-traditional reception. Rather than assigned seating and a plated dinner, the couple opted for a floating cocktail-style dinner with food stations by Fig & Pig Catering scattered throughout the space. Paired with inviting lounge seating, this design encouraged movement and mingling over formality.
That spirit of playful interaction extended throughout the evening. Guests could cool off in a kiddie-pool splash zone, get their portrait drawn by a traveling illustrator with an eye for the absurd, hunt for hidden eggs tucked around the venue, or watch a roaming magician work the crowd. In the courtyard, an upscale lineup of yard games gave guests another way to break the ice and stay engaged between bites and cocktails — proof that the best receptions give people something to do, not just somewhere to sit.
From there, the dance floor took over for the rest of the night, framed by a disco-lit, high-energy atmosphere that matched the couple's unapologetically fun approach to their big day.
What made this wedding so memorable wasn't a single grand gesture — it was the accumulation of small, playful choices that reflected who the couple is. It's a reminder that some of the most meaningful weddings don't follow a script; they’re the ones that simply feel most like the people throwing them.
We were honored to provide the yard games for this playful celebration, adding an extra layer of interactive fun to an already unforgettable day!
